Weathering with You REVIEW: What can hope bring to life?

Weathering with you is about this guy Hodaka meeting an out of this world and all out amazing girl, Hina. The main concept here is about Hina having the ability to control the weather as she is a sunshine girl (a person who is able to control the weather briefly if she prays to the sky). To go into detail on the story, I will pretty much spoil the experience so I will just leave it for you to watch it. However, I do want to share what made this film so special for me and how it could be meaningful for you as well
Hope exists
What I found beautiful about this film is the glimmer of hope. The truth is that reality is often terrible and I mean it to be as if it were a literal hell. Hodaka is literally lost from the moment he went to Tokyo. He is pretty much broke and alone. However, there is that glimmer of hope from Hina, who gave him a burger and Nagi who gave him a job and a place to live in. It is that sense of hope which carries our lives to move forward. No matter how terrible things may be in this world, as long as we carry hope as Hodaka has then there is a chance we can make a change.
Hope for a new life
Hope can even open the door to whole new opportunities. If Hodaka had never had the hope of viewing Nagi as someone good, then he wouldn’t have gone to him to get a job and a place to live later on. If Hodaka had not felt a shimmer of hope from Hina upon giving him the burger then he wouldn’t have saved her and led her to get the sunshine girl job. She is a literal representation of hope to him. She was the very reason he was even living. It was also why the climax was so emotional. All he wanted was to see her one last time. Even if she was dead, it didn’t matter because there is that glimmer of hope which could lead to something extraordinary.
No matter whatever it may be, as long as hope exists then our dreams and wishes may take on a whole new shape, one that may be better than imagined.
Fate decides, Hope colours
Sometimes the nature of this world is bound to happen. We may not actually have saved it or made some major choice or sacrifice which causes a change but rather it was always meant to be. Maybe it was bound for Tokyo to be flooded. Maybe Hodaka and Hina were always meant to be together. The truth is the world had already laid down a path for us but with a shimmer of hope everything can change. A dull and boring life is in need of colour and hope is the colour which provides it. Hope is what gives our lives something to cling to. Something to live for.
Conclusion
Weathering with you is honestly one of the purest stories in cinema. There are very few stories these days which are made for inspiration and a change in our hearts, but this film manages to be that in some of the best ways possible through the purest feeling of all; hope.
